CompTIA, the largest global vendor-neutral certification provider, is conducting a survey among Employers across the African continent to ascertain where organisations see skills gaps – and what they are doing to stay current.

The certification provider aims to better understand how organisations across Africa are approaching IT training, certifications and skills development.

Feedback from the study will help shape insights into:

  • How businesses are investing in skills and certification
  • Key challenges in developing IT talent
  • The role of certification in improving performance and reducing risk

“Surveys like this are a vital tool for us and our authorised training partners,” says Loraine Vorster, vice-president: sub-Saharan Africa at CompTIA. “Once we clearly understand what the skills requirements are in different geographies, our partners can tailor training and certification offerings to directly address the needs.

“This, in turn, will assist companies and individuals in their digital journeys, and ensure they remain future-ready.”

Not only will the survey provide valuable feedback, but respondents can also request a free Skills Gap Assessment from CompTIA to identify exactly what skills are missing from their teams. CompTIA has also developed a tech career roadmap demonstrating where they should be aiming – and how to get there.

Vorster explains why studies like the online survey and skills gap assessments are vital tools for skills development in the continent: “Africa is undergoing a huge number of transformational changes and technology is key for the continent to take its rightful place in the digital economy.

“Having the largest portion of its population represented by youth, building skills is the most critical challenge, so it’s vital that we provide timely and relevant training and certification,” she says.

As the world’s leading vendor-neutral Tech certification provider, CompTIA’s offerings give companies and individuals the edge when it comes to staying up to date on training needs.
