Adroit Technologies is accelerating its growth journey with a focus on long-term partnerships, global scalability, and industrial cybersecurity compliance.

Adroit offers a unique combination of proven real time SCADA, mobility and reporting and analytics technologies, global reach, and modern digital services.

“Our focus areas are innovative software development for industries such as mining, water, and energy,” says Johan Nieuwenhuizen, sales director and co-CEO of Adroit Technologies, established as an independent company over three decades ago. “We have developed and installed over 35 000 licences globally.

Strategic Partnership with Mitsubishi Electric

A key differentiator for Adroit Technologies is its strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Electric Factory Automation in Germany, which has invested in the company. Together, they developed the Mitsubishi Adroit Process Suite, integrating Adroit’s software with Mitsubishi’s PLC products. Adroit also serves as the distributor for Mitsubishi’s factory automation products in sub-Saharan Africa.

The partnership has enabled Adroit Technologies to work with some of the largest global manufacturers in various industries including very large projects in critical infrastructure. “Customers choose Adroit Technologies because of our customisation, consultancy, digital transformation, AI, and analytical capabilities. Some even rebrand our product internally as an indication of the organisation’s wide adoption and trust in our solutions,” notes Nieuwenhuizen.

Flexible Commercial Models and Long-Term Value

Unlike many vendors in the industrial automation space, Adroit Technologies offers highly flexible commercial models without restrictive licensing terms. “Our commercial models are highly flexible. We offer OpEx, CapEx, perpetual, and hybrid models. Unlike many vendors, we do not force mandatory annual renewals or ‘ransom’ licencing. Clients buy and own the software; major upgrades are optional,” explains Nieuwenhuizen.

The company’s approach extends beyond software licencing to comprehensive digital transformation services. “We also provide cloud-based digital services, analytics, and machine learning to give executives real-time, decision-ready data. Our strength lies in bridging operational technology (OT) and IT, ensuring data flows from the shop floor to the C-Suite,” he adds.

Industrial Cybersecurity Compliance

With industrial cybersecurity becoming a legal requirement globally, Adroit has positioned itself at the forefront of compliance solutions. “Another key focus is industrial cybersecurity, also known as Operational Technology (OT). We are fully aligned with the most widely recognised OT Cyber Security Standard – IEC 62443, integrating cybersecurity into our solutions to meet global compliance requirements,” states Nieuwenhuizen.

Cybersecurity legislative requirements for industrial systems and critical infrastructure, such as NIS2 in Europe, and local critical infrastructure regulations are making security compliance mandatory, rather than optional. Adroit Technologies helps organisations navigate this compliance journey by embedding Zero Trust architecture, encryption, two-factor authentication, and auditability directly into their platforms.

Strong Regional and International Presence

In South Africa, Adroit Technologies has established significant market presence, particularly in critical infrastructure sectors. “In South Africa, we have about 80% representation in the water sector. We have also developed mining safety solutions, compliant with local regulations. Adroit Technologies is strong in utilities. Eskom, for example, uses our monitoring across thousands of sites,” notes Nieuwenhuizen.

The company’s global reach extends to internationally “localised solutions”, including a fully translated, white-labelled version in China named MH SCADA,” he says. Adroit Technologies’ go-to-market strategy focuses on empowering certified system integrators rather than competing with them. “Our go-to-market is through a certified system integrator channel. We train and certify them, giving clients access to cost-effective expertise. Our partner programme is designed to empower, not exploit, integrators,” explains Nieuwenhuizen.

Future-Ready Industrial Solutions

As industries seek to extend the lifespan of existing infrastructure while embracing digital transformation, Adroit Technologies’ approach of modernisation without disruption has proven particularly valuable. “We are not just a reseller. We partner with clients long-term, offering consultancy, training, and digital transformation. Many clients value that we can extend the life of older technologies, integrate them into the cloud, and ensure their investments remain secure,” says Nieuwenhuizen.

Looking ahead, the company is focused on raising its profile among senior executives and corporate decision-makers. “Historically, we have worked mainly through distribution channels, but today it is essential to engage directly with C-Suite executives and corporates to stand out. We want to raise awareness that Adroit is a much larger, more capable company than many realise, with strong technical and commercial value to offer,” concludes Nieuwenhuizen.
